thrift store finds

Books

How is it time for Thrift Thursday again? I feel like I just wrote the post on last week’s 75 cent sunglasses. For this week’s thrift feature, we’re going as low as 40 cents. If you’re in the mood for a random book search, visit your local thrift shop asap! You never know what kind of book you will find. It could be anything from a recent International Bestseller to a 60 year old collectible. This week, I’m sharing some of my favorite thrifted book finds:

Dear Abby: I found this at Givits for $3. It was published in 1958 and has a sweet handwritten note inside that reads: “To my husband on his first Father’s Day. June 15, 1958.” This book is HILARIOUS. I laughed so hard all by myself when I read it. It’s a collection of the best Dear Abby letters and her witty responses. You can find copies of this book here.

The New Dictionary on Thoughts (1955): I found this at a rummage sale for $1. You can look up practically any word and find a quote or thought associated with it. I love to refer to this dictionary when I make homemade cards for inspiration. I found one on amazon here.

The Best of Life: This 40 cent book was a treasure find at the Village Discount Outlet. I love LIFE magazine and have started a small collection of them ever since a dear friend of mine (who knows my taste very well) bought me two LIFE magazines from the 50s and 60s for my birthday. This book includes the best of LIFE photos from 1936-1972. It was extremely difficult to narrow it down to a couple of photos, but a few of my favorites from this book include this picture of Bill Cosby and the 1969 Giorgio di Santl’Angelo “dream” fashion photo.

{I would totally wear this outfit today}
