Lady in Red: Kewl Shop Bandage Dress Review

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, this little number from The Kewl Shop is ready for a night out. Actually, to be honest my V-Day plans involve an Indian buffet so a bodycon dress might not be the best option. Instead, I opted to wear this dress for jazz night. The Kewl Shop is an online shop featuring hundreds of trendy pieces with a focus on bandage dresses, shoes, and leggings.

My initial reaction when picking out a dress on The Kewl Shop website was: hold the phone, how am I supposed to squeeze my hips into this tiny dress?

Let’s be real, I fully embrace Spanx. They smooth everything out while hugging and accentuating my curves. So when I read this post on the history of the bandage dress on their blog, I was on board.  The dresses, although snug and somewhat intimating for someone with curves, really do celebrate and mold your body – kinda like Spanx do.  I went with the Cap Sleeve Bandage Dress in red, size XL.

Although the dresses run small they expand a bit to adjust to your body so keep that in mind as you take your measurements. I usually wear a medium to large and felt most comfortable in an XL in this dress, and as you can see, it’s still pretty snug. I did feel a bit limited with the XL / Plus Size options.

The cool thing about this dress is that although it’s snug, it’s really easy to move around in. The thick material hugs every curve but isn’t too heavy. I’m all about versatility and these dresses are extremely diverse in the way you can style them. Here, it paired well with my vintage fur coat but I can tone this down with a blazer or can ditch the tights and wear it as is to a special occasion in the summer.

Anytime I wear something super tight or short, I opt for more coverage up top. I love the balance in a long sleeve mini dress. That’s why my first choice was this stunning long sleeve printed piece. Unfortunately, that dress in a medium wouldn’t even zip up because it  was too small and they were sold out of XLs. The second round was more successful and although it’s not long sleeve, the cap sleeve provides just enough balance with the rest of the dress. It keeps it interesting.

Their website offers plenty of information to help you find the right fit, shipping was super fast, and customer service was on point.
