DIY: Arabic Welcome Sign

I recently realized that I don’t have anything in my home that represents my culture or background. There are little things here and there around the house that I picked up during my visits overseas but nothing really that stands out. I love to download fonts for my blog from this website and was excited when I found an Arabic inspired font using English letters.  My original intention was to frame this phrase which basically translates to “welcome” in my front room but decided to hang it outside using the back of a Thanksgiving sign my co-worker gave me last year. I’m not good with scissors, straight lines, or tracing so what should have been a DIY 101 project turned out to be a little annoying at times. I couldn’t cut the letters out perfectly so I ended up tracing the outline in black to hide the imperfections, which was okay until I messed up the W so I had to color the entire word in. Good thing this project was free99. After all is said and done, I’m happy with it. It added a small “foreign” touch to my home.
