My sister wanted to give something practical and useful as a wedding favor so she decided on this delicious Curried Lentil Soup recipe. If you read this post on the traditional Middle Eastern lentil soup recipe that I learned from my mom, you already know that I love lentil soups, but the curry in this recipe really takes things up a notch.
I love using my Crock-Pot. The results are always so flavorful and hassle free, just like this BBQ beer chicken recipe. With just 8 hours of slow cooking and a few ingredients, the chicken was deliciously moist and tender. Get the recipe I borrowed here and pull that slow cooker out for a finger lickin’ BBQ chicken sandwich.
I love tomatoes. I love them so much I snack on them the way people snack on an apple. I usually just eat them with salt and pepper or will mix them with olive oil and onions for a tomato salad. As much as I enjoy them fresh, there’s something that happens to the flavor and aroma of a tomato when it’s fried.
This was my first time making a chicken pot pie. There are several variations to this comfort food recipe and although mine was a pretty basic one, it was still delicious. Even better then next day heated up in the oven. I found this recipe in the Cooking with Pheeling cookbook, although I made some changes with the sauce.
I’ve shared this recipe for pizza dough on the blog two years ago but this time I changed it up a bit by making it “Mediterranean” style. Making your own pizza dough is so easy and costs a fraction of what you would pay to order a large 3+ topping pizza.
What you need
1 packet of fast rising yeast. You can find these at most grocery stores
1 tsp. sugar
I’m still meal planning and it feels great that I’ve actually stuck with it! My sister gave me a recipe for a delicious slow cooker roast and let me just tell you, it is the best I’ve ever had! Because I’m cooking for one, a roast is too much meat for me so I bought about 3lbs of beef stew meat instead and I still ate this over three days.
This baked shells dish was the first item on the menu for the week. It’s filling, easy to make, and its great because you have the ability to be as creative as you want with it. This serving was for about 6-8 people. I ate it over three days.
What you need:
2 cups of uncooked pasta shells
1/4 lb of ground beef
1 cup of carrots, chopped (or any veggies of your choice.
I’ve been having my mom’s delicious lentil soup for as long as I can remember. All of these years I had absolutely no idea how she made it. I just assumed because of the hearty taste it was an all day process.
I recently called my sister to get the recipe for the Nescafe cake my family has been making for years. As soon as I heard her say: “then you have to go to the Arabic store and get…..” I was like forget it. This requires too many stops and too many steps. Instead, I found a recipe for a cappuccino cake in a cookbook and modified it.
Having guests over for breakfast and brunch beats dinner parties any day. They are more laid back, sometimes more delicious, and you have the rest of the day to recover. My family and I had a Middle Eastern throw down recently, and I was reminded of the many breakfasts we’ve had together and how my mom would have an entire feast ready before I would even roll out of bed as a teenager.
