Style File: The Minimalist

The older I get, the more I find myself drawn to basics instead of trends. Over the last few years, I’ve accumulated quite a few trendy items that end up serving no purpose but fulfilling the needs of a couple outfits and then I’m stuck with 5 plaid tops, excess ruffles, and too many sheer tops to count {although I am noticing a lot of sheer on the runways for spring…}

I think I’m finally at the point where not only has my approach to shopping changed, but my overall taste has too. I’m learning a lot from my sister, who has become proficient at detecting the classic pieces that will serve both as both a fashionable and functional piece in my wardrobe. The key is, according to my sister is to look for something basic, or neutral with a little flare. Smart tailoring, sharp pieces with feminine touches are a few things to look for.
