For May’s 12 Months of Thrifting prompt, we’re focusing on incorporating a thrifted maxi skirt in your wardrobe. Whether you’re running errands or out painting the town red with friends, this essential piece will never let you down.

We’re wrapping up the second month of the #12MonthsofThriftingChallenge. This challenge is designed to help you build a thrifted wardrobe, piece-by-piece over the upcoming year. Each prompt represents a staple item you can wear for seasons to come.
The prompt for September #12monthsofthrifting is to find a pair of booties, a fall essential. I always
have great luck finding booties at Goodwill, especially the location on State Road.
Here are my go-to tips to thrift booties: Always check the sole. If it’s worn down, probably not worth the purchase, even if it is $5.
Maxi dresses are an essential piece to a staple wardrobe. They are perfect for vacations, weekend wear, night outs, and the buffet. I mean really, what’s better than a comfy maxi dress at an all you can eat Indian buffet? Every single maxi dress I own came from the thrift store. I thrifted this floral maxi from Goodwill wait for it…for $1.
I’ll never forget the first trench coat I bought nine years ago. My friend convinced me it would be a purchase I wouldn’t regret because it would be an item I will wear for years to come. Nine years later, I still wear it every spring and fall. That’s exactly why I included a trench or utility jacket as April’s prompt for the 12 Months of Thrifting challenge.
