When I saw that flares were making a comeback, I hesitated for a bit because the last thing I wanted to do was channel Dina circa 2001. The early 2000s were a bad time in fashion, and my wardrobe was certainly no exception. But one day while shopping at Goodwill, I had this burst of inspiration for some dark denim flared jeans for fall. I figured, if I’m going to do this trend, I’m going to try to do it right and look for a dramatic pair instead of the half boot cut / half flare I was sporting in 8th grade.
I had no luck finding the exact pair I had in mind at the thrift store but happened to come across a crazy good sale while googling images of flares for inspiration one day. I snagged these for only $30 from Express, a store I haven’t shopped in many years. I got the short cut and the length was just long enough to cover my foot, a key element when wearing flares. If you’re unsure about buying flares, they work best with heels and platforms, wearing them with flats will look frumpy.
I have always loved 70s style and constantly find myself drawing inspiration from that decade, like images like this one from Pinterest. So when I saw this graphic muscle tank at Target celebrating the Olympics, I instantly thought it would pair well with my new 70s inspired jeans. I have so many plans for these jeans come fall, so expect to see more of it around these parts!
