Dina’s Delights: Pizza Dough

For the longest time, when my sister would make homemade pizza dough I imagined her preparing and baking all day. Little did I know, homemade pizza dough is one of the easiest and fastest things to make. My lovely sister included a delicious recipe for pizza dough in the recipe book she gifted me on my birthday {check out the meatballs I made from the book here.}Not only is it easy to make, homemade pizza is grease and guilt free. I’m trying to avoid the dreaded holiday pounds, so I’ve been very conscious of what I eat now more than ever, but a slice of this pizza satisfies that pizza craving with no guilt! I made a half buffalo chicken, half veggie pizza-you can top with whatever you like.

What you need: 
 2 1/4 teaspoon yeast ( usually equals one packet)
1 tsp. brown or regular sugar
2 tbls. olive oil 
3 1/2 cup warm water
2 tsp salt 
1-2 bags shredded mozarella cheese
If you chose to make the buffalo chicken:
1 or 2 boneless chicken breasts cut up into strips or cubes
1/2 cup buffalo sauce
Ranch dressing
Mix water, yeast and sugar in a bowl
Cover with a towel and let it rise for 10 minutes
Once the yeast rises, mix it with the flour, oil, and salt. Now, if you have a Kitchen Aid, this is so easy. Use the hook to mix everything together, it will also knead your dough. Knead on medium speed for about 5 minutes or until it forms into a ball. Make sure it’s not sticky. If you don’t have a Kitchen Aid, knead with your knuckles and form into a ball. Add flour gradually if it’s still sticky. Place ball of dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel and let it rise for 1/2 hour. 








While your dough is rising, prepare the chicken for buffalo chicken, or cut up desired veggies for the toppings. For the buffalo chicken: simply prepare the chicken cubes in a nonstick pan with salt and pepper. Add buffalo sauce and mix well. Set aside until dough is ready. 




Once your dough rises, punch it to get the air out. Cover, and let rise for an additonal 5 minutes. 
Roll out your dough into a square with a rolling pin. 
I used a round pizza crisper, but you can use a regular baking sheet. Spread dough evenly, while folding over the edges to form a crust. Add sauce, toppings and cheese. If you’re making the buffalo chicken pizza, use ranch as your sauce. 
Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes.
